History

We are very proud of all the history in our village, from medieval origins to the present day; from historical characters, buildings and events to art, publications and photographs.

There will be much information added to this page.  Let’s start with the link that Ron Adams has kindly allowed us to use – photographs of days gone by here.  Ron also has a Facebook Group:  https://www.facebook.com/whitchurchbucks/

Medieval Whitchurch

The remains of the motte and bailey Bolbec Castle (please note that it is in private ownership) may be easily viewed from Castle Lane, Weir Lane or the nearby public footpath.  Stones were removed from the ruins, after Oliver Cromwell’s visit, and are said to be parts of existing buildings in the village.
